Lightning likely cause of fire in Fisher
FISHER — A fire that caused an estimated $10,000 damage to a Fisher auto body business likely started when lightning struck the building, according to Sangamon Valley Fire Chief Eric Stalter.
Stalter said firefighters were called to Greg's Auto Body, 119 W. Division St., Fisher, at 12:19 p.m. Tuesday. They arrived five minutes later and saw smoke showing in the building and flames in a wall, he said.
Sangamon Valley firefighters received help from the Cornbelt Fire Department.
Stalter said a woman who worked at the business noticed the smoke, called 911 and left the building. She was the only person in the building and was not hurt.
Firefighters had the fire under control by 12:50 p.m. and left at 1:25 p.m.
Stalter said the owner of the building was listed as Greg LeBaugh of Fisher.
