Normal man charged with hit-and-run
URBANA — A man from Normal who allegedly fled from an accident near Seymour that injured a woman last month has been charged with a felony.
William J. Rada, 51, was arraigned Wednesday on a charge of aggravated leaving the scene of an injury accident.
On Aug. 13, about 5:30 p.m., a truck that was northbound on County Road 300 E collided with a sport utility vehicle that was headed east on County Road 1500 N.
The driver of the eastbound SUV, Sarah J. Buchanan, 20, of Mahomet, was injured and taken to Carle Foundation Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Champaign County sheriff's Lt. Allen Jones said deputies were led to Rada because he left his identification in his car. Deputies searched the area for several hours, even using a tracking dog, but were unable to find him that night.
Jones said the U.S. Marshal's Service found him in the Normal area Tuesday and returned him to Champaign County. A warrant had been issued for his arrest Aug. 31.
Rada posted 10 percent of the $75,000 bond on Tuesday and was released from custody.
