Man charged wth aggravated battery to a child
URBANA — An Urbana man accused of hitting a toddler is due back in court in November.
Justin Brown, 32, who listed an address in the 1900 block of Christopher Circle, was charged Monday in Champaign County Circuit Court with aggravated battery to a child.
Sheriff's Lt. Ed Ogle said Brown allegedly hit a 3-yar-old boy in his care on Thursday after becoming frustrated with the child for losing his keys.
The child sustained a black eye but did not require medical care, Ogle said.
The matter came to the attention of police when the child's mother brought the boy to the sheriff's office on Friday. Deputies located Brown at his place of business, interviewed him and arrested him on Friday.
On Monday, he was arraigned, ordered to have no contact with the child and be back in court Nov. 8.
