Man charged with burglary in theft of car, guns
URBANA — An Urbana man has been arrested in connection with burglaries, including the theft of an unlocked car containing guns, but the guns have not been found.
Dominic Turner, 22, who listed an address in the 1600 block of Ivanhoe Way, Urbana, pleaded innocent on Monday to felony burglary.
According to Urbana police Sgt. Dan Morgan, somebody entered a car in the 1800 block of Myra Ridge Court, Urbana, on Sept. 19 and took fishing gear and a GPS system.
That same day somebody entered another car on the same block. The second car, which Morgan said contained multiple guns, was parked in the driveway, had the keys in it and was driven away. While Morgan didn't say how many guns were taken, a police report said nine pieces of sporting equipment were taken.
Police got a search warrant following an investigation, Morgan said, and found the GPS system in Turner's home on Thursday and arrested him.
Morgan said the car was also recovered. He said the guns had not been recovered as of Monday afternoon.
Judge John Kennedy set Turner's bond at $30,000 and scheduled his next court appearance for Oct. 4.
