Firefighters rescue UI worker from lift truck

CHAMPAIGN — Champaign firefighters used a ladder truck to rescue a University of Illinois employee from a malfunctioning lift Tuesday.

Champaign Fire Department spokeswoman Dena Schumacher said about 11:30 a.m., firefighters were called to the Psychology Building, 603 E. Daniel St., where Eric Quinley, a brick mason for the UI, was stranded about 40 feet in the air.

Firefighters had to locate the ladder truck to avoid numerous power lines and trees and several cars had to be towed to accommodate Quinley's rescue.

He was brought down about an hour after the initial call, Schumacher said.

I'm glad the overly rated fire department got some kudos for their egos. Sit around all day waiting for a fire and complain when having to work over 8 hours. Boo Hoo Hoo Do the job like everyone else does theirs and stop crying gee whiz. Take it like a paramedic wannabees. ;D

Wow, you should be ashamed of yourself. Perhaps you're knocked out by smoke some night; these "overly rated fire fighters" with their "ego's" will more than likely save your life. I'd "boo hoo hoo" about saving you as well.

overly rated eh? Listen slick, I dont quite know who you think you are but CFD is one of the best fire departments around. Just cause you wish you were on the department but were rejected all your life doesnt mean you need to disrespect them.
