New emergency alert form to debut
Champaign County residents have an opportunity to inform local authorities about people who might need special assistance during a disaster.
The Champaign County Emergency Management Agency and METCAD - the county police dispatch agency - are teaming up to make available a newer version of the Premise Alert Form, which had already been available.
The new form shows emergency personnel where someone with physical or mental disabilities lives and what special attention that person may need during an emergency or natural disaster.
Emergency Management Agency Director Bill Keller said knowing where the most at-risk people are can be crucial.

Keller said the old form did not provide as much information about medical conditions as the new one will.
The form will be updated every two years to keep the information on file.
It can be found online at the Champaign County EMA website or at the Champaign County METCAD website, as well as at various nursing homes and senior living facilities.
