Trucker crashes avoiding deer on I-72
|
An Urbana truck driver sustained minor injuries Thursday morning when deer on the road caused him to lose control of his rig.
State police at Pesotum said Darren E. Tharp, 44, was driving east on Interstate 72 on the northwest side of Decatur about 5:15 a.m. when he saw four deer in the driving lane.
Tharp swerved to avoid hitting the deer, skidding out of control. The semitrailer truck landed on the driver's side, blocking both eastbound lanes of the interstate. One lane was reopened at 9:45 a.m.
Tharp received minor injuries but refused medical treatment.
