Tickets, warnings given during roadside check
URBANA — State police report that nine tickets and eight warnings were issued during a roadside safety check conducted over Thanksgiving weekend in Urbana.
Sgt. Bill Emery of the state police said the roadside safety check was held at the intersection of Illinois 130 and Windsor Road in Urbana on the evening of Nov. 25 and the morning of Nov. 26.
Five tickets and three warnings were issued for registration offenses, plus one ticket and one warning for driver's license offenses. One ticket was issued for driving under the influence of alcohol, one person was ticketed for another alcohol-related offense and one ticket and four warnings were given for vehicle code violations.
The roadside safety check was paid for by a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety.
