Fatal crash in Edgar County under investigation

PARIS - A Metcalf man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Edgar County early Saturday.
A release from the Paris Police department said Derek Allen Gill, 27, died after being thrown out of his car about 1:35 a.m.
The accident happened in the 100 bock of North High Street in Paris. Mr. Gill was headed north when his car crossed into the southbound lane and left the road north of the intersection of Court and High streets, hitting the garage of a home on the west side of High Street.
Mr. Gill was alone in the car. Edgar County Coroner Pete Templeton pronounced him dead at the scene, the result of blunt force trauma to his chest.
The Paris Police department and Templeton's office continue to investigate.
