Danville man arrested in elderly woman's murder
DANVILLE — Police have arrested a 44-year-old Danville man in the murder of an 84-year-old female relative who was found dead in her apartment Christmas Day.
Michael T. Gibbs was arrested late Sunday afternoon on preliminary charges of murder in the death of Ethel E. Gibbs, according to Danville police.
The two are related, according to Danville police, although how they were related was not specified by police. Michael Gibbs is in custody at the Public Safety Building, according to police.
Ethel Gibbs was found in her apartment shortly before noon Sunday by another relative, according to Danville police. The relative stopped by Mrs. Gibbs’ apartment at Immanuel Senior Residences, 1415 Eastview Ave. in the Holiday Hills area of Danville, on Sunday afternoon, because she had not heard from her that morning.
