Eight-year prison sentence handed down in sex assault case
|
URBANA — A man who admitted sexually assaulting a teenage girl has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
Izear Davis, 39, of Houston, formerly of Champaign, received the sentence Friday from Champaign County Judge Harry Clem.
Davis had pleaded guilty in November to a single count of criminal sexual assault, admitting that between July and August 2009, he committed a sex act with a girl in Champaign.
Assistant State's Attorney Duke Harris agreed to dismiss a second count of criminal sexual assault in return for Davis' guilty plea.
Court records show Davis had prior convictions for domestic battery, possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of a controlled substance.
Davis will have to register as a sex offender.
