The driver, Jesus Beltran Villanueva, 25, was arrested for driving under the influence after being treated and released from Carle Foundation Hospital.
According to Illinois State Police, Villanueva was driving west about 2:40 a.m. when he lost control, left the road and hit a large interstate sign. The car began rolling over and came to rest on its top.
Villanueva and his passenger, Rogelio Hernandez-Pastor, 31, got out and ran, the report said, but police located them in a field.
Police said Villanueva was taken to Carle before jail. Hernandez-Pastor was taken to Provena Covenant Medical Center, but officials there would not release information about him.
Villanueva was arrested for driving under the influence, possession of controlled substance, no automobile insurance, and improper lane usage.
