Bement man hurt when truck ends up in ditch
SEYMOUR — A Bement man who apparently wrecked his truck on a road in southwestern Champaign County was taken to an Urbana hospital Wednesday morning.
However, a Carle Hospital spokeswoman said she had no information on the condition of Tyler Auth, 22.
Champaign County sheriff's Sgt. Keith Cunningham said about 8:40 a.m., a semitrailer truck driver saw a Chevrolet pickup truck in a drainage ditch near the intersection of county roads 200 E and 1100 N.
The truck was on its wheels in the ditch, which is about 18 to 20 feet deep, Cunningham said.
"It was hard to see. The guy in the semi was up high enough to see down into the ditch," he said.
Emergency workers found Auth in the cab of the truck, which was in about 3 feet of water. Water was coming in on the floorboard, he said.
Deputies did not know how long he may have been there or what caused the accident. Auth was in and out of consciousness when workers got to him, Cunningham said.
The sergeant said he did not think Auth's injuries were life-threatening.
