Fire damages two homes in Hillery
HILLERY - A fire has severely damaged two homes on Olive Street in the Hillery neighborhood west of Danville and just north of the intersection of U.S. 150 and Henning Road.
Firefighters with Kickapoo and Lynch fire protection districts responded at about 2 p.m. Monday afternoon to the house fire in the 200 block of Olive Street.
The blaze started in a one-story house and spread to a mobile home next door. Other area departments were called in for help. One person was taken by ambulance to the hospital with minor injuries from trying to get into one of the homes to check on a resident, but the woman was not home at the time, according to Kickapoo fire officials at the scene.
The fire was under control by about 3 p.m., but firefighters were still on the scene at 3:30 p.m. putting out hot spots.
