Tolono teen ticketed after Monday night crash

TOLONO — A Tolono teen was ticketed for driving under the influence of drugs after crashing his car into a guardrail Monday night.

Champaign County sheriff's Sgt. Dan Coile said Dustin E. Long, 18, and his passenger, Sarah F. Davison, 17, were both injured and taken to Carle Foundation Hospital following the crash just before 10 p.m. on County Road 600 E.

Coile said Long was driving north near County Road 900 N when his car went off the road to the right and hit the end of a bridge guardrail head-on.

Both Long and Davison were wearing seat belts and escaped serious injury but the Honda Civic they were in sustained heavy front end damage, Coile said. Both were treated and released from Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Coile said deputies found a pipe in the car and Long told them he had been smoking a synthetic form of marijuana prior to the crash.
