19-year-old charged with burglary
CHAMPAIGN — A Champaign man has been charged with residential burglary for allegedly stealing items from a relative's home in Champaign in January.
Champaign police arrested Colby Fischer, 19, who listed an address in the 2100 block of Campbell Drive, on Tuesday evening in connection with a Jan. 20 burglary to a home in the 1400 block of Weathervane Drive.
The resident told police she left for several days beginning Jan. 20 and when she returned, found several items missing but no signs of forced entry. She told police she suspected Fischer, who had been living with her before that.
Last week, police found a television, musical equipment, electric tools and other items belonging to the woman that Fischer had pawned at area pawn shops.
Besides residential burglary, Fischer was also charged with theft over $500. If convicted of the more serious residential burglary charge, he faces a mandatory prison term of between four and 15 years.
