Appellate court rejects Chief suits
SPRINGFIELD – A state appellate court has turned down the appeals of two University of Illinois students who portrayed Chief Illiniwek and a Champaign attorney who supports the Chief.
Students Dan Maloney and Logan Ponce and attorney John Gadau had filed separate suits against the University of Illinois Board of Trustees in connection with the board's decision to retire the Chief and his performances at UI football, basketball and volleyball games.
