Arthur teen dies in rural accident
ARTHUR – Douglas County Sheriff Charlie McGrew said investigators from his office and the Douglas County coroner's office are investigating a single-vehicle accident Sunday morning in rural Bourbon Township that claimed the life of an Arthur teen.
Douglas County Coroner Joseph Victor said Max L. Hendrix, 18, of Arthur was driving a 2000 Ford on County Road 100N about 300 feet northeast of County Road 50E when the vehicle crashed at 6:32 a.m. Sunday.
Victor said Mr. Hendrix's body was released to Shrader Funeral Home in Arcola.
"We haven't determined the cause, and the incident is still under investigation," McGrew said Sunday afternoon.
