Diocese considers closing St. Mary's in Westville
WESTVILLE – Community members are holding out hope that St. Mary's School, Westville's longtime Catholic school, will continue to educate young people as it has for many decades.
But Brother William Dygert, superintendent of schools in the Peoria Diocese, said on Wednesday that St. Mary's School is being considered for closure, referring more specific questions to the local parish priest, the Rev. Timothy Sauppe, who was out of town Wednesday and could not be reached for comment.
