Champaign school administrators named
CHAMPAIGN — The Champaign school district has named several new administrators, including an interim principal for Edison Middle School.
Justin Uppinghouse, who has been serving as assistant principal at Edison, is now interim principal. He replaces Carmela David, who left the district May 16 to take a job in Florida. David had been principal at Edison for three years.
Uppinghouse has been at Edison since 2009. Before that, he was a social worker at Sangamon Elementary School in Mahomet from 2006 to 2009, and worked at Next Generation School for three years as a pre-kindergarten and second-grade teacher.
Tony Howard is taking Uppinghouse's place. He has been named interim assistant principal. Howard has been at Edison since 2006. He teaches science and AVID, a program to help students prepare for honors and upper-level courses and for college.
Jonathan Kosovski has been appointed interim assistant principal at Central High School, effective Aug. 1. He replaces Muriel Bondurant, who is retiring. Kosovski is currently a Spanish teacher at Centennial High School. He's been at Centennial since 2009 and previously taught Spanish at Palatine High School from 2005 to 2009.
