— Construction of the new additions at both of the district's two schools is all but complete, said interim Superintendent Allen Hall. Still on the to-do list at the Homer building are minor projects, including oil-and-chip application on the circle drive used by school buses, grass seeding next to the new building additions, and finishing a new concession stand. These will be done just after school gets out, said Hall.
The new parking lot installation at the Homer campus will be completed by local volunteers, to save on costs to the district, said Hall. Homer resident Brian Richardson is coordinating the effort to excavate, haul gravel and grade the lot. The district will pay fuel and gravel costs only.
An open house event at the Homer building will be planned for late August or early September, to give the community a chance to tour the new addition, said Hall.
— A district long-range planning session has been set for 6 p.m. June 30 at the school in Homer. Hall said board members will discuss the financial outlook for the district, with emphasis on future needs for transportation, food service, technology upgrades, curriculum and facilities upkeep. This meeting is open to the public.
— The regular meetings for June, July, and August have been rescheduled for the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Homer building.
