Hogan thanks Easter for service as interim chancellor

URBANA — President Michael Hogan thanked interim Chancellor Robert Easter for “distinguished service” at Easter’s last Board of Trustees meeting.

The University of trustees also welcome a new athletic director, Mike Thomas.

The trustees are expected to approve the new vice president and chancellor, Phyllis Wise.

Two new vice presidents have been recommended in the last week, Christophe Pierre in charge of academic affairs, and Lawrence B. Schook for research.

They are also to approve the UI’s fiscal year 2012 operating budget, covering the allocation of estimated operating income from all sources. The recommended $5 billion operating budget represents a $109.8 million (5.9 percent) increase in unrestricted funds, a $139.9 million (4.8 percent) increase in restricted funds, and a $249.7 million (5.2  percent) increase in all operating funds from fiscal year 2011.
