DACC Foundation plans honors program
DANVILLE — The Danville Area Community College Foundation will host its annual Honors Program for scholarship recipients on Friday at the Mary Miller Center gymnasium on campus, 2000 E. Main St.
The program will begin at 10 a.m.
The program celebrates the achievements of this academic year's scholarship recipients and the donors who support them. This year, the foundation awarded 240 scholarships totaling about $250,000.
"These private scholarship dollars are so essential for our students to come to college. We are all very grateful to the donors who make the scholarships possible," DACC President Alice Jacobs said, adding many donors are scheduled to attend the program. "Some are coming from as far away as California. It's a great opportunity for the recipients to thank the donors in person and for the donors to meet the individual their donation is helping."
Jacobs also thanked the foundation board and volunteers "who continually work to generate more scholarships for our students. It seems as though each year, we have additional scholarships."
However, she added, there still aren't enough for everyone who needs one.
Limited parking is available behind the gymnasium. Additional parking is located off of Main Street north of the Braun Technology Center.
