Presentation set for this week on 3 'upper houses' at Danville High School
DANVILLE — Parents of first-year freshmen at Danville High School can learn about the school's three "upper houses" that their children will get to be a part of next year.
A presentation on Danville New Tech High; the Academy of Creative Experiences, or ACE House; and the Global Leadership Outlooks through Business, Action and Learning, or GLOBAL House, will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday in the school's Dick Van Dyke Auditorium, 202 E. Fairchild St.
Assistant Principals Darin Chambliss, Phil Cox and Rowdy Fatheree — directors of the New Tech, ACE and GLOBAL houses, respectively — each will give a 10- to 15-minute presentation on their program and what it offers students. They also will be available for questions afterward.
All first-year freshmen will hear the presentation earlier that day.
The presentation is designed to give parents and guardians information about the programs so that they can help their children decide which house will be best for them over the next three years.
Homeroom teachers will give the students their house selection forms on Friday. Students must complete the forms and return them by Jan. 27.
The upper houses — along with the Freshman House — are small learning communities, all of which stress academic rigor, relevance and relationships between students and teachers.
