New head of BP has ties to Champaign-Urbana
The new head of BP has Illinois ties.
Robert Dudley studied at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the 1970s and earned a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in 1978. He went on to receive his MIM, or master's degree in international management, from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona and an MBA from Southern Methodist University in Texas.
The head of the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the UI, Edmund Seebauer, congratulated Dudley.
"Mr. Dudley earned a bachelor's degree from our program in 1978, and we're delighted to see that he's using his Illinois education to lead BP at this difficult time. We wish him well."
A University of Illinois Foundation spokesman said the organization does not comment on who it counts among its donors or how much they've contributed to the university. Dudley did not serve on any of the foundation's committees or boards. The UI Alumni Association also had little information about him.
