Volunteers sought for Lake Vermilion cleanup
DANVILLE — Local water company Aqua Illinois is recruiting volunteers for its annual Lake Vermilion cleanup next week.
Aqua and the Lake Vermilion Water Quality Coalition will sponsor the 10th annual "Lake Vermilion Cleanup Day" from 8 a.m. until noon on May 27. Cleanup will focus on two areas: shoreline enhancement and debris in the lake, such as barrels, tires and runaway dock floats. Residents living on the lake who have debris they would like removed from the shoreline should bag, box, or neatly pile the debris and make it plainly visible for workers to remove.
Organizations or individuals wishing to volunteer should meet at the Vermilion County Conservation District's boat-trailer parking lot no later than 8 a.m. May 27. Participants should wear clothing appropriate for the job. Gloves will be provided, as well as donuts and refreshments before work begins, and lunch will be served for everyone after the event.
To volunteer, call David Cronk, production manager at Aqua Illinois, Inc. at 443-8541 extension 123.
