Oncologist to remain an employee of Danville hospital

DANVILLE – Provena United Samaritans Medical Center says it will continue to employ oncologist Dr. Jo-Mel Labayog, rather than help him make a transition to private practice in the community.

Provena last month said it would dissolve its physician practice in Danville over the next few months, but make efforts to help doctors stay in the community. It now says Labayog will remain on the hospital staff to continue his practice at the Regional Cancer Center and will also serve as its medical director.
