Carle work closes part of street for good

URBANA – As of Tuesday, a portion of an Urbana city street is no more.

Busey Avenue between Church and Park streets is now permanently closed to make way for the new Carle Foundation Hospital Patient Bed Tower and Heart and Vascular Institute.

Starting Monday and going through March 18, Park Street between Coler Street and Busey Avenue will be closed for underground construction at the hospital.

In the weeks to follow, Park Street will reopen intermittently, but will be restricted to one lane and one-way traffic heading west.

Motorists can get to Carle's emergency room and emergency parking from University Avenue at Coler Street. Coler Street remains permanently closed north of the emergency room.
