First 90-day insurance plans available on UI site
SPRINGFIELD — The first of the new 90-day group health insurance plans are available to state employees to begin enrollment.
The University of Illinois just posted the new plans — a Health Alliance Medical Plans HMO and a HealthLink Open Access Plan — on its website.
The Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Quality Care plans also remain available.
Health Alliance CEO Jeff Ingrum said today the company had been notified about 10,000 Health Alliance members had chosen one of the new state plans when Health Alliance was no longer available as an option.
Those members can switch back to Health Alliance, he said, but they have to ask fast.
"As far as we know, there is no extension (of enrollment)," said Katie Ross, UI associate director of human resources administration. "It will end June 17." More 90 day health plans may become available for state members as the state and insurers finalize contracts. They will be posted as updates are made, she said.
