Christie says again: PersonalCare ending contract
CHAMPAIGN — Whether PersonalCare has severed its relationship with Christie Clinic, effective at the end of the year, apparently depends on which of the two you believe.
On Wednesday afternoon, Christie Clinic posted a new statement on its website, stating once again that PersonalCare has chosen to terminate its contract with Christie effective Jan. 1, 2012, but "it is important to note that PersonalCare is just one of more than 100 insurance providers Christie Clinic contracts with to provide care to our patients," the statement reads.
Clinic officials declined to answer questions about the PersonalCare contract.
Matthew Eyles, spokesman for Coventry Health Care, PersonalCare's parent company in Bethesda, Md., said negotiations between PersonalCare and Christie Clinic to keep Christie Clinic in PersonalCare's provider network next year are continuing.
"While our 2012 negotiations with Christie are still ongoing, we are committed to finding a good resolution for our members, just as in previous years when we faced similar situations with Christie," he said.
