Comedian will speak at annual fundraiser

CHAMPAIGN — Comedian Diana Jordan will be the featured speaker at the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women luncheon on Feb. 17, the organization announced.

The event will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1501 S. Neil St., C, with breakout sessions starting at 10 a.m. and an expo and other activities following at 11:30. Lunch will begin at noon.

The program will include Jordan, a fashion show and an ask-the-expert physician panel.

Heart disease affects one in three women and claims the lives of more women than the next five causes of death combined, including cancer, according to the heart association.

The annual luncheon serves as a fundraiser for the association, helping support education and research. Ticket and table sponsorship information is available at champaigngoredforwomen.org or by calling Amanda Beckler at 355-5119.

Jordan, also an author and motivator, has been nominated by the American Comedy Awards as one of the top five female comedians in the country and has been a featured performer on many TV and radio shows.
