DeWitt-Piatt to begin priority H1N1 flu-shot clinics

CLINTON – The DeWitt-Piatt Bi-County Health Department will begin public vaccination clinics Tuesday for H1N1/swine flu.

These clinics are for priority groups only. Those getting first priority for the vaccine include pregnant women, caregivers of infants younger than 6 months old, emergency medical and health care workers, anyone age 6 months to 24 years old and those age 25-64 who have chronic illnesses.

Vaccinations of school-age children at area schools are already under way, according to public health Administrator Dave Remmert.

All vaccinations are provided free, and the vaccine is available in both nasal mist and injectable forms, Remmert said.

Times and locations for vaccination clinics are as follows:

DeWitt County (by appointment only) from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 910 Route 54 East, Clinton.

– Oct. 27 and Oct. 30: For pregnant women, health care providers, children 6 months to 5 years and caregivers of infants younger than 6 months.

– Nov. 6, Nov. 13, Nov. 17 and Nov. 24: All priority groups.

– Dec. 1, Dec. 4, Dec. 8, Dec. 11, Dec. 15, Dec. 22 and Dec. 29: For all priority groups.

Piatt County (walk-in) at 1020 S. Market St., Monticello.

– Oct. 28, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., and Nov. 2, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.: For pregnant women, health care providers, children 6 months to 5 years and caregivers of infants younger than 6 months.

– Nov. 6, Nov. 9, Nov. 23, and Nov. 25, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.: For all priority groups.

– Dec. 18 and Dec. 21 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Dec. 23 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.: For all priority groups.
