Explain, in one sentence, what it is you do.

I primarily work on financial, legislative and planning issues relating to the MTD.

What time do you typically get up? What do you do the first hour of the morning?

Our dogs typically start to bug me between 6 and 6:30. Besides issues relating to them I eat breakfast, listen to WILL and read The News-Gazette.

What did you have for lunch today? Where? Who with?

Chicken piccata at Jim Gould with Laura Calderon, the executive director of the Illinois Public Transit Association.

Best high school memory:

Not sure it's the best, but a fly landed on my nose during a speech in freshman English. A laugh at yourself is not the worst in the world.

Tell me about your favorite pair of shoes.

You got me there.

What's a perfect Sunday afternoon include?

Lunch with Sandy (my wife) at Milo's, a nap and a walk with the dogs or a bike ride.

Was there one book you read as a child that you still cherish? Own? Read?

The Chip Hilton series by Clair Bee. I own entire sets of three different editions.

If you could invite three people (all living) to your home for the weekend, who would it be?

Muhammad Ali, Barack Obama, and Sean Connery.

Where on Earth are you dying to go? Why?

After reading a biography about Peter the Great, I have always wanted to visit St. Petersburg, Russia.

Tell me about your favorite pet(s).

Ralph and Maggie are our two dogs and Ralph likes me best.

Have you discovered as you matured that you are becoming like one of your parents? Which one and how?

My father died when I was 11. From what I remember of him, I probably have his sense of humor but my mother's practical side.

What would you order for your last meal?

Black bean burrito from Fiesta Cafe.

What can you NOT live without?

Sandy (my wife).

Who do you have on your iPod?

Not enough space here – or on my iPod.

What's the best advice you've ever been given?

Don't invest money in the stock market if you are not prepared to lose it.

What's your best piece of advice?

Everything is more complicated than you think it is.

What was your first job and how much did you make an hour?

Cutting grass with a push mover for $1 a yard.

Do you have a bad habit? What is it?

I procrastinate very well.

What's the happiest memory of your life?

My life has been full of happy memories.
