Events to showcase women's organization's offerings
CHAMPAIGN – Crafts and information about China are among activities offered for women this week.
Home and Community Education, the women's organization that used to be known as home extension, will spend Monday and Thursday showcasing its activities at the Champaign County Farm Bureau building, 801 N. Country Fair Drive, C.
Potential members or those curious about HCE programs are invited between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. both days, with registration at 9:30 a.m.
Monday's programs about life lessons include:
– Senior classes at Parkland College, 10 a.m.
– Urbana Archives information, 11 a.m.
– Make and take craft, 11:30 a.m.
– Lunch, bring your own; coffee and tea provided; noon to 1 p.m.
– Disaster preparedness and talk on the H1N1 flu virus.
– Tea with "Unmasking the Possibilities" theme and refreshments, 2 to 3 p.m.
Thursday's programs about cultural enrichment include:
– Exhibit of members' hobbies, 10 a.m. start.
– Card-making demonstration, 10:30 a.m.
– Reading stories with theme of "What I would like to tell my grandchild."
– Potluck lunch, bring a dish to share and table service, beverages provided, 11:30 a.m.
– Talk on China, 12:30 p.m.
– More stories read, 1:30 p.m.
