Prairienet, the community computing network in East Central Illinois, is offering another round of classes for beginning computer and Internet users.
All the classes will take place in the computer lab at Prairienet's offices, 510 E. Daniel St, C. Space is limited to seven students per class.
There is a fee of $45, which Prairienet will waive for people meeting certain income guidelines. Participants don't have to be a Prairienet member. For more information, call 244-1278.
?Computer basics for people who have never touched a computer? is a five-class series designed for novices.
The class covers such topics as computer terminology, how to use a mouse and basic windows skills, and offers an introduction to applications like word processing.
Sessions of the class are scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon Feb 10, 17 and 24 and March 10 and 17; 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Feb. 10, 17 and 24 and March 3 and 10; and 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 11, 18 and 25 and March 4 and 11.
?Surfing with a life jacket, Internet basics,? is a five-class series that covers such things as e-mail, using a Web browser and effective Internet search skills.
Sessions of the class will take place from 10 a.m. to noon March 31 and April 7, 14, 21 and 28; 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. March 31 and April 7, 14, 21 and 28; and 6 to 8 p.m. April 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29.
