LEROY – With a 13-0 season record and its total enrollment of 222 students fired up, along with the whole town, tiny LeRoy High School hopes to make a memorable showing in Friday's clash with Galena for the state's Class 1A football championship.

With kickoff at 10 a.m. Friday in Champaign's Memorial Stadium for the state title, the postseason playoff classic likely will leave indelible memories with a cheering throng of Panther fans. They trooped to the school office to buy about 800 tickets at $10 each for the gridiron showdown, and they'll go east bright and early on Interstate 74 to the Mecca of a big-time stadium.
