Governor seeks to hold line on truck speed limits
SPRINGFIELD – Gov. Rod Blagojevich is urging House members returning to Springfield today to uphold his veto of a bill that would raise the speed limit for large trucks on more than 2,000 miles of the state's highway system.
This spring, the General Assembly voted to increase the truck speed limit to 65 miles per hour on rural Interstate highways and rural four-lane divided highways, but the governor vetoed the bill, citing safety issues.
