MTD seeks tax levy increase just over 10 percent

URBANA – The Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District wants a little more money to run its bus system next year, about $400,000 more.

The district is seeking approval at its next board meeting Dec. 8 to request just over a 10 percent increase in its tax levy. The request is estimated at $4.51 million, compared with $4.1 million in property taxes collected this year, according to Managing Director Bill Volk.
