URBANA – It may look like the Micro and Nanotechnology Lab is being torn down, but actually the demolition that started there last week is part of an expansion that will add nearly 50,000 square feet to the building on the University of Illinois campus.

The lab, at 208 N. Wright St., U, is a multidisciplinary research facility for the study of matter at the molecular level. The addition will support new research in photonics, microelectronics, nanotechnology and biotechnology.
