Champaign deputy chief describes destruction
NEW ORLEANS – Illinois police officers helping out in New Orleans have been busy and the destruction there is unimaginable, according to Champaign police Deputy Chief John Murphy.
"A lot of these areas most affected were in pretty bad shape before the hurricane," Murphy said in a cellphone interview en route to his assignment Thursday. "I, personally, don't see how they will salvage a lot of these areas.
