Officials look at improving pedestrian safety

CHAMPAIGN – Buses will be moving more slowly on the University of Illinois campus, and other drivers will soon need to reduce their speed too.

The speed limit on most streets in the campus area will be reduced from 25 mph to 20 mph – pending approval of the Champaign and Urbana city councils – in an effort to improve safety after a fatal bus-pedestrian accident last week.
