Panel: No new reductions, for now
SPRINGFIELD – In a report released on Wednesday, the Advisory Commission on Pension Benefits declined to recommend specific benefit reductions for new teachers, university workers, state employees, judges and lawmakers.
Last spring, Gov. Rod Blagojevich pushed for higher retirement ages and smaller annual cost-of-living increases for new hires in all five state retirement systems as a way to help reduce the state's future pension liability.
