Man pleads guilty to killing father

URBANA – A 20-year-old Urbana man who admitted killing his father will be going to prison for 45 years.

Paul McLaughlin pleaded guilty this morning before Champaign County Judge Tom Difanis to the first-degree murder of his father, Peter Beyer McLaughlin, 45, who was employed as a Parkland College police officer. He admitted stabbing him repeatedly.
