Abortions at 30-year low in state, up in Champaign
SPRINGFIELD – While the number of abortions performed in Illinois hit a 30-year-low in 2004, there was an increase that year in Champaign and Coles counties, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
The department released its 2004 abortion statistics last week, including figures for each county where more than 50 abortions were performed. Locally, those counties included Vermilion, Champaign and Coles.
