Officials put hiring of police officer on hold
GIBSON CITY – A Gibson City alderman says he had no idea that a former Urbana police officer had been accused of raping a woman last year when he voted to hire the man for the Gibson City Police Department.
The Gibson City Council voted unanimously Monday to hire Kurt Hjort for a full-time position with the department at $14.50 an hour with full benefits.
