Council to discuss discrimination issue

CHAMPAIGN – The Champaign City Council appears to be leaning against amending the city's human rights ordinance to specifically prohibit discrimination against holders of Section 8 housing vouchers.

But council member Giraldo Rosales said Tuesday night he was able to get seven of the council's nine members to sign a request form to hold a study session on the controversial issue. Rosales said he expects the study session to be held within the next month.
