Governor has assault weapons in his sights

SPRINGFIELD – In his State of the State Address today, Gov. Rod Blagojevich will renew his push for a statewide ban on assault weapons.

The federal ban expired in September 2004, and an attempt to pass a state ban failed in the Illinois House by three votes in May 2005.
