Sheriff suggests closing old jail and expanding satellite facility

URBANA – Champaign County Sheriff Dan Walsh thinks the county should expand the satellite jail in east Urbana and close the 26-year-old jail in downtown Urbana, which he says is outdated and deteriorating.

But the Champaign County Board doesn't appear especially eager to follow that advice.
