Villa Grove voters say no to higher taxes
VILLA GROVE – Villa Grove residents hoping for a new community building or new services from their local government are going to be sorely disappointed with Tuesday's election results, Mayor Ron Hunt said.
A referendum asking residents to approve a 1 percent sales and service tax failed. According to unofficial results from the Douglas County Clerk's office, 264 people voted against the new tax and 196 people voted for it.
