Village board approves $3.3 million deficit budget

RANTOUL – Village board members Tuesday night defended their decision to pass a $3.3 million deficit budget as a necessary evil in Rantoul's recovery from the closure of Chanute Air Force Base.

The board voted 4-1 to approve a budget that anticipates spending $44 million while receiving $40.7 million.
